I’m a member of the Culture Heritage and Libraries Committee at the Corporation. We supported the series of events to mark 350 years since the Great Fire of London. It was great to see so many people out tonight watching the spectacle on the Thames. The structure was beautifully built and the fire gave a real sense of terrifying the fire must have been.
A series of cultural events across the capital happened all weekend. I also saw the fire garden outside of the Tate Modern. I love these kind of spectacles which bring together Londoners and visitors and the anniversary of the Great Fire was certainly well worth marking as it had such an impact on what our City looks like today.
